材料科學與工程（學術型）：我校材料科學與工程學科于1990年、2006年先后獲碩士、博士學位授予權，屬部級重點學科。共有25名專業教師，其中教授8名，具有博士學位者16名。碩士指導教師17名，其中4名教師已被聘為博士指導教師，一名博導為國家杰出青年基金獲得者。擁有電子掃描顯微鏡、X光衍射儀、熒光能譜儀等一大批完善的材料分析和實驗設備。
在長期的教學和科研工作中，形成了相對穩定而又具有明顯特色的研究方向。近幾年尤其在電子材料的特性、結構與性能的微觀表征、可靠性技術、計算機模擬與性能預測、激光陶瓷材料制備技術等研究領域取得了創造性成果和突破性進展，研究水平處于國內領先地位，部分成果達到國際先進水平。本校該學科的科研項目任務飽滿，年均科研經費超過300萬元。
本學科每年招收碩士生、博士生共30～40名。畢業生的簽約率達100％，畢業生均在高校、科研和生產單位從事材料科學與工程領域的設計、研究、開發與管理工作。
The discipline of materials science and engineering in Xidian University is one of the key disciplines in the Ministry of education ofChina. The right to award master degrees and doctoral degrees for the discipline were given in 1990 and 2006 respectively. The total 25 teachers with 16 PhD are in the discipline, including 8 professors, 17 Master's Supervisors with 4 Doctoral Supervisors, 1 China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists. The instruments and equipments are Scanning Electron Microscopes, X-ray diffraction instruments, Fluorescence Spectrometers and so on.
During the long-term teaching and research work, the relatively stable research directions with obvious characteristics have been formed. In recent years, creative achievements with great breakthroughs have been achieved especially in the electronic materials with the electrical properties, microscopic structures, reliability, the computational of material science, the fabrication technology of laser ceramic materials etc..  Some of the material researches are up to the top in china and the advanced in the international. Enough research projects in the material discipline have been approved and the annual research funds are over 3 million RMB.
